How precious is this little boy? Yasiin’s parents found me through the photo gallery at Acorn Wellness Center here. The original plan was to do a maternity session first but he surprised everyone by arriving before his due date. Yasiin was absolutely dreamy to photograph, and since is parents purchased my Grow With Me package I get to photograph Mr. Dreamy at six months old and again when he turns one.

Speaking of Acorn Wellness Center, I just have to sing their praises and encourage you to call them if you are prenatal, postnatal, or if you need chiropractic or massage body work. They are amazing! Dr. Elon Bartlett uses a massage approach to his chiropractic, and Whitney, the massage therapist is by far the best I’ve ever experienced. My clients receive a $30 discount off their first chiropractic appointment and their patients receive a $50 print credit from me when they book a family session.

A few weeks ago I got a phone call that was a blast from the past. I’d photographed Emily’s family a decade ago and now she was graduating from high school and needed senior portraits. They wanted her photos to look unique and to reflect her artistic style and interests and they said that I was the photographer to do that.

Emily arrived with her beautiful smile and Steampunk flair, as well as her being quite a natural in front of the camera which all made for great images. She’s going off to college in Chicago, one of my favorite cities. She’s going to love it there!

Almost ten years ago I did Minnie’s first maternity session and have been photographing her beautiful children ever since. Here is a session from a while back. Every time I photograph Sydney, who loves having her photo taken, she greets me with a big hug and this last time she even drew me a picture! I. love. my. job.

On this day Tyler was resistant to having his photo taken — when I’d bring up the camera to shoot he’d run and hide. All my tried and true tricks didn’t work so I scanned their backyard looking for anything I could use to distract him. And then I saw it, a bright red wheelbarrow tucked away in the corner. What luck! We turned it into a fast ‘car’ and from then on Tyler and I were best friends.

The parents of these beautiful twins, now 5 years-old, have been bringing their children to me every year since they were 6 months old! I feel so blessed to be the one to document their growth all these years.

Some of the things that make these children one of my favorite are the countless expressions they have and how their parents love all of them. Every year they order a variety of images that reveal how their kids were in the hour and a half session, from giggles to wiggles to tears. Something else that made an impression on me from their very first session on is the parent’s sense of humor and how they just roll with their kid’s moods. What a wonderful trait to have that will come in handy when they have teenagers!

Louise has a great sense of style which her children have inherited. They always show up looking supremely stylish, and for the past few years she has let her kids pick out their outfits. Don’t they look great?!

Some families come into my life for a season and more come for a very long stay and we become friends. I first photographed this beautiful couple when they contracted me to photograph their rehearsal dinner and gorgeous wedding at Meadowood Resort in the always charming Napa Valley.

Their wedding was my 8th of what is now 200 and they booked me while I was pregnant. The funny story is that they had to convince me to shoot their wedding (I knew I wouldn’t want to leave my infant so they said, “just bring him along!”). So my husband watched our kids on the property while I shot their wedding and it is still one of my favorites.

A few years later they had me photograph their then baby daughter at 6 months old, and recently their family portrait with their five year-old son. They even invited me to their Tahoe cabin to take photos of their extended family while on vacation. Thank you for trusting me with documenting your wedding and family — I can’t wait to capture your children as they continue to grow!

Little Sara came into this world a few days before her due date, and I was so glad because I was able to photograph her the day before I went left for vacation to the Grand Canyon. You might remember this family from their maternity session last month here. I’ve grown quite fond of this family. In their maternity session their oldest daughter captured my heart with her beauty and charm.

Sweet Sara was patience and calm through the whole session as we fussed with her. She gave the most peaceful expressions as her parents snuggled with her. They purchased my Grow With Me package so I get to photograph her again at 6 months old, yay!

Here’s a story…of a man named Mark who fell in love with Patricia and they had 4 beautiful children. It had been drizzling on and off all morning so naturally the kids had not gone outside yet and they had the wiggles. I started the session by having them race each other across the park (6 times!), and once they collapsed on the grass I was able to work some magic.

I’ve photographed this family for five years and each time I’m struck with how loving and candid they are. The parents like natural looking photos and prefer me to capture their children how they are which allows me to be the photojournalist. Thank you Mark and Patricia!

You might remember this little darling here as a newborn. Her adoring parents brought her to my studio for her second of three Grow With Me sessions. The camera loves her and after this past shoot I have to say that she loves the camera. I couldn’t help but giggle as she made eye contact with me until she heard the shutter click. I loved photographing this family and capturing Mira’s many cute expressions. The toe-sucking phase of babyhood is super adorable and very fleeting, so I was tickled to have captured it.

There are 3 big milestone ages in a baby’s first year: Newborn, 6 months old, and one year-old. Six to seven months-old is when most babies are sitting up, are in their chubby cherub-stage, and their first 2 baby teeth may be peeking out. Most have not figured out how to crawl yet making it a perfect time for posing, as well as being easily entertained.

I can’t wait to be there for Mira’s next big milestone…walking!
