I’ve never really thought of myself as a collector, but ever since photographing newborns I have become a collector of props used for newborn, baby, and toddlers. Most of the props are vintage made in early to mid 1900s and from as far as New York, England, and Bulgaria. Some props are unique and made specifically for photographers while others been custom made to my specifications.
My studio is stocked with 30+ baby holders, 40+ knitted hats, 30+ blankets, 20+ baby and mommy wraps, and 25+ flower headbands, and three alphabets of blocks. Here’s a small sampling of what I have and how it was used in a session. I’ve taken the thinking out of the equation for parents — all they need to bring their child and a diaper bag — I take care of the rest! Doesn’t that sound wonderful and easy?
