I’ve said this many times but it bears repeating. . .I love love love it when I am a family’s photographer year after year, some even span two decades. This sweet family is one of ones who are the reason I still do what I do after so many years. Our relationship started when I posted on the Berkeley Parent’s Network years ago that I was looking for a quilter who was interested in a barter of photos. Three photo sessions of her brother and then Emi, and many years later they contacted me for their daughter’s bat mitzvah. It was quite a surprise to see how much they both had grown and matured since their baby photos! I can’t wait to create a keepsake album for them next.
Emi’s big day, replete with blue skies and sunshine, was sandwiched between two rainy days – what luck! She did an amazing job. I was impressed with her presentation, composure, and speaking talent at the young age of thirteen. They chose the same venue for the ceremony and reception, Northbrae Community Church in Berkeley. The event was seamless, thanks to the lovely decorations of Rosecrest Special Events whom I’ve had the pleasure of working with on several mitzvahs. Fun fact: I photographed the bar mitzvahs of their creative director. The food was mouthwatering delicious by Curt Clingman Catering (he used to work at Chez Panisse). I’ve also worked with the tattoo artists from Family Fun Entertainment on past events — they kept Emi’s guests well-inked. Also, it was fun working with Denon & Doyle again — Joel Brown and his mixer kept the party going all night long!
