Photo Tip #4 – Vacation photos | Bay Area Wedding and Family Photographer

When we are on vacation there is so much to see, remember, and then forget.  On a recent trip to L.A. we visited the arboretum where Fantasy Island was filmed  It was relaxing strolling under palm trees, seeing different plants, and enjoying the hot weather.  These images will help us remember that experience.

  • On your next trip try taking shots from different ranges; close-up, medium, and far away.  Notice the details.  Get down on the ground, point your camera upwards, and try to layer the foreground with the background.
  • You don’t need a $3,000 camera to make great images, though one that has a zoom lens and allows you to make maual adjustments to the settings is very helpful.  These were taken using our handy Canon PowerShot G3 4MP, the camera we use for family trips, rather than my professional Nikon D300 that I use for work.
  • Note: This sounds obvious, yet is so easy to miss when you’re rushing out the door to catch a plane — remember to bring charged batteries, empty memory cards, and a camera charger.

Thanks Rachel! I was strolling along and almost stepped on these beauties just before realizing how gorgeous they were. Now I’ll never forget them.
